Weekly Journal 1
Week 8 of Semester 2 as a Computer Science diploma student was both challenging and full of learning experiences. The week started with a lot of anxiety because of our upcoming project presentation on website interfaces. I had missed the initial project briefing due to medical leave, so I felt a bit lost when I first joined my group. The biggest challenge was the technical requirement since we were expected to design and build a website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which were not taught this semester. I had to figure out these languages on my own, but luckily my cousin, who has experience in web design, guided me through the basics and helped me make progress. Meanwhile, in class, we continued learning Java, which was interesting but made balancing the project a bit tougher.
Unexpectedly, all our classes on Tuesday were cancelled. At first, I was just surprised, but then I realized it was actually a perfect chance to take a break and recharge. My housemates and I decided to go out to Kuala Lumpur, explore around the Sultan Abdul Samad building, and take lots of photos and videos. It felt nice to just slow down for a while and enjoy the city without worrying about deadlines.
Later, we stopped by a cafe in Chow Kit and shared a bunch of different pastries so everyone could try something new. That short outing was exactly what I needed. It reminded me that even though studying can be stressful, taking small breaks and spending time with friends helps me stay motivated, refreshed, and ready to tackle my projects.
